Laverna "Snookie" Woodard

September 11, 1941 — May 14, 2012

Laverna "Snookie" Woodard was born September 11, 1941 in Maury County, the daughter of the late Vernon and Allyne Trice Grooms. Snookie and her husband Wayne enjoyed 50 years of marriage before his passing in 2006. She had driven a school bus for the Maury Co. Board of Education for a number of years. Snookie's greatest enjoyment in life was being a homemaker and spending time with her family. She was a member of the Porter's Chapel United Methodist Church.

Survivors include her three sons, Douglas Woodard of Columbia, Crafton Julie Woodard of Columbia and Randal Diane Woodard of Mt. Pleasant; five grandchildren, Amanda Brian Farrell, Michael Amber Woodard, Wendy, Vernon Woodard and Brandon Jade Woodard; 12 great-grandchildren; one sister, Shirley John Robert Daniels of Columbia; a special niece, Pam Holland along with several other nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Snookie was preceded in death by a daughter, Lillian Faye Woodard and one sister, Doris Grooms Staggs.

Snookie passed away on Monday evening, May 14, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 12:00 Noon in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Jay Hoppus and Bobby Gobble officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.

The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 5:00 – 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Vernon Woodard, Brandon Woodard, John Robert Daniels, Robby Daniels, Johnny Daniels and Preston Holland.
