Ms. Laura Melbajean Nichols, age 81, passed away on Monday, July 27, 2015 at NHC Columbia following an extended illness.
Laura was born on September 28, 1933 in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee to Isaiah Workman and Maggie Wood Workman. She was the widow of Robert Nichols who passed away in 1993. She was a homemaker and also upholstered furniture for a living for a time. Laura was of the Church of Christ faith. Friends all around knew this wonderful lady as “Aunt Laura” and her grandchildren knew her as “Granny Laura”.
Laura loved to dance and would dance the night away, drinking only coffee. She will be loved and greatly missed by her family.
Ms. Nichols is survived by her children: Gloria (Jeff) Ring of Fairview, TN, Elisa (Troy) Potts of Mt. Pleasant, TN, James B. Nichols of Mt. Pleasant, TN, and Carl (Jo) Workman of Mt. Pleasant, TN; 9 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sisters: Sarah (C.D.) White of Mt. Pleasant, Janie (Dave) Kerr of Lawrenceburg, Tennessee; Janet (Jerry) Lanier of Summertown and Okalene Hanvy of Mt. Pleasant. She was preceded in death by her parents: Isaiah Workman and Maggie Wood Workman; husband: Robert Nichols; and son: Anthony Workman and 11 siblings.
