Larry Gene “Pappy” Ballard, 75, of Mt Pleasant, Tennessee, passed away on September 10, 2019 at NHC Maury.
Larry was born on July 18, 1944 to the late Robert L. and Mary Lou Burch Ballard in Dickson, Tennessee. He was married to Faye Nicholson Roberts from May 7, 1968 until her passing in September of 2015. He retired from Stauffer Chemical after more than 30 years of service where he was a supervisor. He attended Main Street Church of Christ. He joined the United States Army in August of 1961 and was stationed in Texas at the Fort Hood Military Base. He was an outgoing person who never met a stranger. He enjoyed going fishing and hunting with his son and grandsons. Larry was a member of the American Legion Post 19 in Columbia, Tennessee.
He is survived by daughter: Valerie (Barry) McDaniel; son: Stacey (Sue) Roberts; daughter: Pam (Terry) Parham; daughter: Tammy (Randy) Eastep; grandchildren: Melissa Myers, Aaron (Tiffany) Eastep, Jessica Parham, Kayla (Dustin) Gibson, Brandon (Bri) Roberts, Amber Roberts, Joseph Brown, Blake McDaniel and Megan McDaniel; great-grandchildren: JJ Myers, Gavin Myers, Jaelynn Gill, Jase Runions, Braxton Roberts, LillyAnna McDaniel, Harley Gibson and MacKenzie Mathis; and another granddaughter (Heidi Grace) due January 2020; sister: Linda (John) Dugger; brother-in-law Tommy Nicholson; nieces and nephews: Jerry Ballard, Jr, Lee Ann (Condley) Parson, John (Holly) Dugger and Rodney Nicholson. In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by; brother: Jerry Ballard, Sr., nephew: Robbie Ballard and niece: Vickie Nicholson.
Visitation with the family will be Thursday, September 12, 2019 at Williams Funeral Home, Mt Pleasant from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Services will be Friday, September 13, 2019 at 10:00 AM with Bro. Randy Kersey officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.
Pallbearers will be: Brandon Roberts, Joseph Brown, Blake McDaniel, Condley Parson, Drew Parson, and John Dugger, III.
Honorary pallbearers are: Main Street Church of Christ Men’s Breakfast Group.
