Larry "Big Papa" Mcneece

Larry “Big Papa” McNeece of Mount Pleasant, Tennessee passed away on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at his residence. Larry was born on November 24, 1943 to the late William Arthur McNeece and Alice Boyd McNeece in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee.

On December 24, 1964, Larry married his loving wife, Peggy Nichols. Larry is a graduate from Haylong High School, class of 1961, in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee. Larry was a very special man, and he was a loving husband, dedicated father, and beloved Big Papa. Larry was a hard worker and dedicated to making sure his family was provided for. He worked at Mobil Chemical Company, Monsanto Chemical, and Maury County Highway Department. Larry served his country in the National Guard. He was an avid University of Tennessee fan, both basketball and football. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time doing his favorite hobby, gardening. He was a member of Spencer Hill Church of Christ.

Larry was described by his family as a giving man, selfless, and always placing others first. He loved donating money to help those without. He would take his grandchildren shopping every Christmas and he would also take them to the fair, give them money, and he would sit and read his book. They also shared that Larry was always an honest man; he was there to lend a nice smile or genuine handshake at anytime. His friendly spirit and calm demeanor will become a memory that will be missed and cherished by all.

Survivors include his wife Peggy Nichols McNeece of 51 years; Daughter; Stephanie (Steven) Boshers of Mount Pleasant; Son: Wade McNeece of Mount Pleasant; Granchildren: Dylan McNeece, Ian McNeece, Breanna Vandygriff, Nicholas Vandygriff, and Landyn Boshers all of Mount Pleasant; Siblings: Margaret (Howard) Norman, Jean (Don) Westmoreland, and Jerry (Martha) Mcneece; special nephews: Mark Delk, Kevin White, Kenny Norman, Don Norman, Eddie Bassham, Mike Boehms, Chad Westmoreland, Brian McNeece, Bradley McNeece, Danny McNeece, Shane McNeece, Doug Cline, Terry Brewer, Tommy Adams, Steve Nichols, Larry Nichols, Tim Nichols, Danny Cummins, Bob Cummins, and Jamey Cummins; special nieces: Lynn Bassham, Debbie Boehms, Rhonda Delk, Delana White, Shannon Cline, Kristy Brown, Carol Fits, Lisa King, Beverley Norman, Shawn Brewer, Linda Norman, and Lisa McNeece; a very special niece Judy Pettus; special friends: Bobby (Betty) Brown and Renee (Naybug) Toban.

Larry is preceded in death by his siblings: Billy (Barbara) McNeece, Wayne (Shirley) McNeece, and Bruce (Betty Lou) McNeece; two special nephews: Mike Norman and Jerry (Bugs) Green and two close friends Carol Spencer and Harold Sharpe.

The family will visit with friends on Saturday April 2, 2016 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday April 3, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant with Andy Pogue, Randy McNeece, and Theodore Durham officiating. Burial will follow at Spencer Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Richard Cothran, Van Boshers, Jerry Attkisson, Gary Joe King, Enoch George, Larry Brown, Nicki Savage, and Larry Vandygriff. Honarary pallbearers will be Richard Pettus, Billy Don Scannella, Billy Luttrell, Sodie England, Wray Wright, Ronnie Turner, Wesley McNeece, Robby McNeece, and Dakota Brown, Don Westmoreland, Chris Lemay, Howard Norman, Emily McNeece.
