Larry Austin Embler, age 66 of Hampshire, passed away February 25, 2015 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Larry was born September 8, 1948 to Griffin and Cynthia Runions Embler in Maury County. He was the store manager at Giant Foods for twenty-four years and the assistant manager at Walmart for the last seventeen. Larry leaves a legacy behind for his coworkers and customers for what it means to be a hard worker and providing admirable customer service. Larry was known for putting himself last, his family first, and going out of his way to assist others. Outside of his dedicated work ethic and making sure his family was taken care of, Larry truly enjoyed spending his time outdoors hunting and fishing. He also served as the past PTO President at Hampshire Unit School. Larry’s family will truly miss him along with his capability of preparing the best macaroni and cheese. He was of the Baptist faith.
Larry is survived by his loving wife of nearly 43 years, Teresa Lynn Odom Embler of Hampshire; one daughter, Melissa Ellen “Missy” (Barry) Gobble of Alabama; one son, Farris Lee (Mary Ann) Embler of Hampshire; his beloved grandchildren Megan, Macey, and Melody Gobble and Jennifer and Diana Embler; two brothers, Daniel Embler and Doug Embler; mother-in-law, Ellen Craig; sister-in-law, Cheryl Ragsdale; two brothers-in-law, Brenda(Kevin) Odom and Tom (Angela) Roberts; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Griffin and Cynthia Embler; brothers, Barney, Farris Vernon, and Jack Embler; sisters, Reba Nell Sanders and Louise Embler.
The family will gather with friends Saturday, February 28, 2015 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, March 1, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. with family visiting with friends one hour prior also at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia. Rev. Tommy Vann will be conducting the service and burial will follow at Sheboss Cemetery in Hampshire, Tennessee.
Family and friends will serve as the Pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be fellow employees of Giant Foods and Walmart.
