Larry Garland Cross, age 74, of Culleoka, passed away at Nashville General Hospital following an extended illness on December 27, 2014.
Larry was born on October 8, 1940 in Wyndott, Michigan. His parents were James and Anne Cross and he was one of two sons. Larry was born with a love of music and was a gifted vocalist. He used his talents to serve and worship the Lord singing first with the gospel group “King’s Four” and touring with Andrae’ Crouch and The Disciples. He sang and recorded gospel music for many years. Additionally, he served as a music minister at Oak Hill Assembly of God Church in Tennessee and Norwalk Pentecostal Church of God in California. Previously he was a member and sang in the choir at Bethel World Outreach Center in Nashville.
In addition to his music career, Mr. Cross also worked as a machinist, having retired from Peterson Tool in Nashville, Tennessee.
Larry was a family man and married his wife Nancy on September 9, 1995. They loved each other dearly and never gave up on each other even during the midst of Larry’s last extended illness.
Larry is survived by his wife: Nancy Bennett Cross of Culleoka; children: James “Jimmy” (Dionne) Cross of Summertown and Elizabeth “Beth” (Tracy) Frink of Iowa; grandchildren: Devan Cross, Desiree Cross, Kira Lord, Karissa (Nate) Brewer, Daylin Cross, Gerret DeBondt and Gavin DeBondt and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents: James and Anne Cross; brother: David Cross; granddaughter: Danielle Lord and great-granddaughter: Riley Cross.
A memorial service for Larry is being planned and will be held at a later date at New Life Church in Columbia.
