Larry English Chatman, age 69 of Mt. Pleasant, passed away surrounded by his loving family February 21, 2013.
Larry was born May 14, 1943 to the late Leston and Irene Voss Chatman in Maury County. After graduating High School, Larry met his soon to be wife Susie McKennon. The two married October 13, 1962 and shared two children together, Annette and Dwayne along with 50 years of Marriage. During their marriage, he worked at Turner & Osborne for 25 years and Tennessee Tire/ Gateway Tire for 26 years where he eventually retired from in 2012.
Family: it was everything to him. “Daddy” as his children and “Papa” as his grandchildren knew him loved nothing more then being surrounded by all of them. Some of the strongest memories will be of his deep voice leading praise at Ebenezer Church where he attended for years. Larry also enjoyed watching college football.
The family expressed in the past six months that he was not dying, but the strength they have always witnessed was coming alive. He was a fighter and kept his strength until his passing. Papa fought to stay with his family to watch his grandchildren grow older. His great grandchildren kept him going and were responsible for so many of his smiles. He always called them his “Little Angels”.
The family will visit with friends Saturday, February 23, 2013 from 1:00-8:00 P.M. at the Mt. Pleasant Williams Funeral Home. Services will be conducted Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of the Mt. Pleasant Williams Funeral Home with Bro. Dickie Lindsey and Bro. Frankie Manning officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery.
Survivors in addition to his wife Susie include his children: Annette (Terry) Carpenter and Dwayne (Vicky) Chatman; grandchildren: Miranda Roberts, Shauna (Blake) Cooper, Brandy (Matthew) Simmons, David Chatman, Kenny (Lois) Carpenter, Janet Carpenter and Heather Carpenter; his little angels: Ryan Powell, Kaiden Chatman and Corbin Cooper; his brother: Jimmy “Whitey” Chatman and his “favorite Sister” Sandra (Roger) Henson
