Kenneth Ray Morton

September 16, 1953 — March 8, 2010

Mr. Kenneth Ray Morton, age 56, a resident of Columbia, passed away on Monday, March 8 at Maury Regional Medical Center following a courageous battle with cancer.

Funeral services for Mr. Morton will be conducted Wednesday March 10, at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Danny Laster officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home and Wednesday from 1:00 P.M. until time of the service.

The Maury County native was the son of the late Clara Louise King Morton of Columbia and the husband of Cynthia Gail Willis Morton. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather. Kenneth loved being a strong family man and surrounding himself with his grandchildren. He was employed by the Maury County Board of Education and The Pizza Place in Mt. Pleasant. Kenneth was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Kellie Timothy Davis and Michael Morton of Mt. Pleasant; grandchildren: Tyler Scurrah of Spring Hill, Kaylee Davis, Nicholas Davis, and Noah Davis of Mt. Pleasant, Destiny and Bradley Morton; sisters: Mary Jimmy Farris, Margaret Fred Reed, Linda Steve Beckum, all of Columbia; brothers: James Lynn Morton and Ricky Morton, both of Columbia and Billy Evelyn Morton of Dayton, TN. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by brothers: Howard Morton, Bobby Morton and Ernest Morton and a sister: Dorothy Morton Reece.

Pallbearers will be Clyde Kelly, Marvin Escue, Drew Childress, Adam Morton, James Farris, Robert Gilliam, Sean Davis and Steve Beckum. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of The Pizza Place in Mt. Pleasant and members of Southside Baptist Church.
