Kelly Hughes

Kelly Marie King Hughes, age 51 and a resident of NHC Pulaski; born and raised in the Mount Joy Community, Mount Pleasant, Tennessee, passed away peacefully in her sleep from an extended illness.

Kelly was born on November 26, 1972, and was adopted on February 23, 1973, by Clifford King, Jr. and Becky Barrett King.

Kelly attended and graduated from Mount Pleasant High School, meeting the love of her life, Dale Hughes. From this union of marriage, they had one son, Corey Dale. Corey and his wife, Kendal, gave Kelly three beautiful granddaughters who fondly called her MawMaw.

Kelly loved with all her heart. She was proud of Corey and his accomplishments. She treasured her granddaughters unconditionally and they were her pride and joy.

Kelly enjoyed word search puzzles, coloring, watching football and tv shows, and visits from her family and friends.

Kelly is preceded in death by her husband of 31 years: Dale Hughes; grandparents: Rev. Eugene Barrett, Wanda Barrett, Clifford King, Sr., and Nora King and in-laws: JP and Jo Hughes.

Those left behind to treasure the memories made in her lifetime: Corey (Kendal) Hughes; granddaughters: Payton, Maci, and Nora Hughes; parents: Clifford King, Jr. and Becky King; sisters-in-love: Joan (Dale) Lindsey, Leslie (Tommy) Pewitt; brother-in-love: Alan (Adra) Hughes; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and uncles.

Kelly was a member of Main Street Church of Christ and of the Christian Faith. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to all the staff at NHC Pulaski and all the staff at Caris in Columbia for their care and concerns during Kelly’s extended illness.

Donations in Kelly’s name can be made to the Tennessee Kidney Foundation or the American Heart Association in lieu of flowers.

A service for Kelly will be Thursday, February 29, 2024 at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee with Bro. Randy Kersey officiating. The family will receive friends on Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 4:00 PM to the start of the service at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee. There will be a private graveside gathering for family and friends at a later date at Glennwood Cemetery in Columbia, Tennessee .
