Mrs. Katie M. Garvin, age 84, long time resident of Morningside Drive in Columbia, passed away on Friday, December 7, at NHC Columbia.
Funeral services for Mrs. Garvin will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 P.M in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. John Rushing officiating. Graveside services will be at 1:00 P.M. on Monday at Polk Memorial Gardens.
The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 6:00 ? 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
The Maury County native was the daughter of the late Robert Franklin Matlock and Lena Beatrice Holt Matlock. She was the wife of the late William Henry Garvin. Mrs. Garvin was a homemaker and was the organist and pianist at Northside Baptist Church where she was a member.
Survivors include one son: William Jane Garvin of Lewisburg; one brother: Robert Matlock of Columbia; one sister: Shirley Virgil Miller of Las Vegas, NV; 7 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one daughter: Mary Christine Plant Henry, one son: Ernest Eugene Garvin; brothers: Roy Matlock, Herbert Matlock, Fluornoy Matlock, Cecil Matlock, and Jeff Matlock and sisters: Myrtle Henson, Sarah Nunn and Ophelia Johnson.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Dodd, Scotty Stanford, Jere Cecil Plant, Terry Plant, Ronald Plant and Tim Moss.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Northside Baptist Church.
