Karen Pickard, a beloved wife, mother, and member of the community passed away on May 9th, 2023 at IU University Hospital. Karen was born on September 9th, 1958, in Laporte County, Indiana to Fredrick and Doris Tucker. She dedicated her life to serving others and will always be remembered for her kindness and generosity.
Karen met the love of her life, Donald Pickard, whom she was married to for many years. Karen always made family her top priority and was known for being a family-oriented person who had a big heart. Her husband Donald described her as "down to earth" in nature with an unwavering commitment to helping anyone in need.
Karen worked as a special education assistant for many years and took great pride in helping children reach their full potential. She touched the lives of countless people during this time and will always be remembered for making a positive impact on those whom she worked with.
Aside from work, Karen loved to travel with her husband to Gettysburg, PA, Nova Scotia, Colorado, and many other places. Her sense of adventure led her to explore new territories while enjoying different cultures along the way.
Another passion of Karen’s was cooking; she had a natural talent for baking and would often make treats for her friends and family who were lucky enough to enjoy them firsthand.
Karen is survived by her husband Donald Pickard and their two children Jacob and Paula Heiniger. During this difficult time the family wishes to extend thanks to all who have reached out showing support through this trying moment.
Pallbearers will be Duane Tucker, Dale Perry, Kevin Coulter, Norman Good, Hunter Pickard, and Michael Blumenscein.
A funeral service for Karen will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee. The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 from 12:00 PM to the start of the service at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee. Karen will be laid to rest at Polk Memorial Gardens.
Karen Pickard will always be remembered for her dedication to her family, unwavering commitment to helping others, and her kind and generous spirit.
