June Few Gilchrist was born June 29, 1923, in Chicago, Illinois. She passed away peacefully at age 97, Thursday morning, January 28, 2021, at Alive Hospice in Nashville.
Mrs. Gilchrist was a WWII Veteran, W.A.C., serving in G-2, Military Intelligence, Pentagon, Washington D.C. She retired from the State of Tennessee Employment Security Department in Nashville T/n. June was a member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church, and also a member of the Episcopal Church Women, The James K. Polk Association, State of TN Retirees Association, Maury County Senior Citizens, and the Newcomers Club.
June was preceded in death by daughter, Nancy Few Staton; husbands: Col (Ret) Malcolm F. Gilchrist, and William Webster Few.
She is survived by her children: William Webster Few II of Columbia, TN, and Linda Few (Steve) Shaver of Franklin, TN; grandchildren: Teresa McCarthy of Murfreesboro, TN, Dana Rich of Franklin, TN, Scott Shaver of Evergreen, CO, Mike Staton of Edgewater, MD, Will Staton of Edgewater, MD, and 11 grandchildren.
A celebration of life for Mrs. Gilchrist will be held on Sunday, February 7, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, with Father Chris Bowhay officiating. Inurnment will follow at a later date at St. John's Churchyard.
In accordance with health guidelines, the family suggests that those in attendance wear a face covering but will leave that optional.
Memorial donations may be made to St. Peter's Episcopal Church or the Maury County Animal Shelter.
