Judy Maye Pierce Runions, age 61, passed away Friday, August 6th, 2021 in Columbia, Tennessee.
Judy was born to the late James and Birdie Pierce on November 5th, 1959 in Maury County.
Judy is a compassionate, kind, and strong woman. This woman would not let any obstacle hinder her from what she has her mindset to. Some might even use the words stubborn and hardheaded though always in a loving tone. “If there’s a will there’s a way.” Judy truly had a servant’s heart and was a natural nurturer. Judy proudly served many of her adult years as a teacher, mentor, supervisor, supporter, and caregiver at King’s Daughters’ School. Her career eventually led her to the role of Special Education teacher at Hampshire Unit School where she later retired. She dedicated her life to the growth and success of every student she met. She would not rest until she gave everything she had to give to help others.
Judy is a nature enthusiast; she loved to fish and hunt; to just slow down and spend time basking in the wonder and beauty of the outdoors. Judy definitely had a sweet tooth, and she would create some of the most intoxicating (and sometimes interesting) desserts that you have ever tried. Sun Drop cake was her family’s most prize-winning dessert. More than anything, Judy adored her family. Her life was centered around her children and grandchildren. Christmas was her absolute favorite time of year and she knew that meant a big ol’ family sleepover with all of her children and grandchildren. She looked forward to the decorations, the gift wrapping, the cookie making, the breakfast, lunch, and dinner meals, and all of the treats in between, but mostly, she cherished the time her family spent together with each other. Those wonderful memories that she left behind will forever live through the traditions and hearts of her family.
The family will be receiving friends Wednesday, August 11th, 2021 beginning at 9:00 AM, with the funeral service starting at 1:00 PM in the Chapel at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. Mr. Randy Baxter will be officiating. Burial will proceed to Sheboss Cemetery in Hampshire, Tennessee.
The family requests that everyone in attendance please wear a mask for the respect and safety of others.
Judy is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Charles Runions; children: Jesse Lee (Arianna) McNabb, Jennifer Henley, and Andrea Varacalle; grandchildren: Makayla, Brittney, Julie, Alyssa, Ethan, Maylea, Chris, and another little one on the way; her great-grandson: Leyton; and sisters: Patsy Moore and Cathy Powell; and several other loved ones.
