Judy Lee Irwin

Judy Lee Kennedy Irwin passed away on August 27, 2023, at the age of 83. She was born July 2, 1940, to Everette and Louise Kennedy in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. Judy attended Haylong High School. She was the widower of Billy James Irwin. Her later years were shared with her special friend Robert Wood of Mt. Pleasant.

Judy’s early career was with Tennessee Knitting Mill before being hired as one of the first women at the Stauffer Plant in Mt. Pleasant. She began this career at the furnace plant and then moved to the organic plant. Before Judy retired from Stauffer, she earned the love and respect of the men she respected and worked alongside.

Judy was a member of Spencer Hill church of Christ. She spent much of her time traveling and taking photographs. Judy, known to many as Gran, devoted her life to her family.

She is survived by her brother Everette (Dot) Kennedy; her children Kirby (Chico) Irwin Hedrick and Billy (Sara) Irwin; her grandchildren Haley (Brandon) Hedrick Hallmark, Bradley (Megan) Irwin, Logan (Becca) Hedrick, and Nathan (Ashley) Irwin; and her great-grandchildren Jackson Hallmark, Grayson Hedrick, and Riley Irwin; and sister-in-law: Betty Irwin Dugger.

The family will receive friends and visitors on Wednesday, August 30, 2023, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. The funeral service will be held Thursday, August 31st, 2023 at 11:00 AM with one hour of visitation prior. Bro Randy McNeece will be officiating. To follow, Judy will be laid to rest at Arlington Cemetery.

Judy’s grandsons Brad, Logan, Nathan, Brandon, Jackson, and nephew Wayne Dugger will serve as her pallbearers.
