Juanita Owen Morton Sandlin, 94, of Columbia passed away on Monday, August 7, 2017 at NHC Columbia. Juanita was born on May 14, 1923 to the late Edward Mooney Owen and Katie Biddle West Owen.
In spite of blindness, Juanita garnered more from life than most. Ms. Sandlin was a long time member of Highland Park Baptist Church and attended the Jubilee Class. She retired after working many years for her sister at Lively Florist.
Juanita is survived by her daughters, Jean (William) Thurman of Columbia, Juanita (Johnny) Cook of Columbia, Cheryl (Lawrence) Nelson of Chattanooga and Janice Morrison of Guatemala; Son, Charlie (Judy) Morton of Columbia; Sisters, Jean Logue and JoAnn Walden; Brothers, June Owen, English Owen, James Owen and Phillip Owen. Ms. Sandlin was also blessed with nine Grandchildren, twenty-one Great Grandchildren and five Great-Great Grandchildren. Ms. Sandlin was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Morton; Daughter, Sharon (Gene) Finney; Brothers, Frank Owen and George Owen, Sisters; Katherine Owen, Belinda Culberson, Deloris Satterfield and Bessie Merrill.
Pallbearers will be Hayden Burton, Shane Hay, Ross Cook, Sean Kelly, David Hudgins, Michael Burton, Jeff Beard and Tommy Logue.
The family would like to express special thanks to NHC Columbia, their staff, with special mention to Holly Brawner, Dr. Ball, Hospice Compassus, Dr. Ben Gardner and Dr. Thomas Dake.
Services will be held Wednesday August 9, 2017 at 10:00 am in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, TN with Johnny Cook officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hohenwald, TN. The family will visit with friends Tuesday August 8, 2017 from 4pm until 6pm at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia.
