Joyce May Paul, age 78, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Monday, December 10, 2018 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Joyce was born on June 29, 1940, in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee to Horace and Lizzie Stewart Vandiver. She was a graduate of Hay Long High School. On June 12, 1959, she married Gerald Paul and they enjoyed 59 years together. She loved children, and babysat many children throughout the years. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, cooking for her children, and her specialty was her dumplings. She was full of life and loved to joke and cut-up. She was a life-long member of the Mt. Pleasant Church of God where she was very dedicated. Her special companion was her Chihuahua, Alvin, whom she loved very much.
She is survived by her husband: Gerald Paul of Mt. Pleasant; children: Diane (Walter) Musick of Mt. Pleasant and Brenda (Tony) Curtis of Summertown; grandchildren: Charity (Jody) Neally, Cayce (Patrick) Sims, Candace Henderson, Christie (Jeremy) Crain, Whitney (Douglas) DeMint, David (Emily) Rochester, Heather Scott and Derrick Curtis; great-grandchildren: Gage Lovett, Kali Lovett, Anjoel Wood, Kara Sims, Dayton Owens, T. J. Fish, Lilyana Henderson, Joshua Parham, Camden Crain, Cali Crain, Macie Brooks, Nevaeh DeMint, Kaitlyn Rochester, Adilyn Rochester and Kayla Collins; brother: Allen (Ann) Vandiver; numerous nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law: Peggy Vandiver and Ruby Brown; and Jacey Dugger and all the other children she babysat throughout the years. She was preceded in death by her parents: Horace Vandiver and Lizzie Stewart Vandiver; daughter: Sandra Scott; and brothers: Billy Vandiver and Charles Vandiver.
Funeral services for Joyce will be held on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Tony Curtis officiating. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery in Mt. Pleasant. The family will visit with friends on Wednesday, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., also at the funeral home.
Gage Lovett, Dayton Owens, Anjoel Woods, Jeremy Crain, Jody Neally, Phillip Vandiver, Walter Musick and David Rochester will serve as pallbearers.
