Joseph S. "Joe" Jakubisin

Joseph S. Jakubisin was born January 29, 1946 in Binghamton, NY, to Mrs. Frances Jakubisin of New Jersey and the late Joseph Jakubisin. On February 14, 1985, Joseph married Patricia Foley.

Joseph was formerly employed by Castrol Oil in Pennsylvania before beginning work for General Motors in New Jersey. He retired from the General Motors Spring Hill plant after 15 years of service. Joseph was a communicant of St. Catherine Catholic Church since 1990 and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 7447. He had a special devotion to Jesus, the blessed Mother and St. Joseph. He spent time in prayer every day, loved the ocean and football. Joseph was co-owner with Pat of Yahweh's Garden Christian bookstore and gifts for eight years.

Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include his son, Patrick Krista Foley of PA; one sister, Carole Ann Kevin Fort of NJ, one brother, Ronal Jamie Jakubisin of PA, one sister-in-law, Clare Viola of TN; nieces, Rita Wydock of TN, Jessica Greg Luz of NJ, Brittany Joseph Cole of TN and Lindsey Matthew Rivard of TN; nephews, Joseph Pallante of PA, Bryan Tamara Fort of NJ, Ronal Jakubisin of PA, Robert Rachel Wydock of TN, and Nicholas Wydock of TN. Joseph is also survived by a daughter, Stephanie and special friends, John Barboza and Michael Keiser.

The family would like to offer special thanks to the 8 AM Choir at St. Catherine Catholic Church , the "Cats"; and Carlee and Casper.

Joseph passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2012, at NHC Hillview.

A funeral mass will be held at 9:00 A.M. Monday, January 16, 2012, at St. Catherine Catholic Church with Father Davis Chackaleckel, MSFS, officiating. The family will visit with friends on Sunday from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia.

There will be a memorial service held at a later date in New Jersey.

Pallbearers will be members of the Knights of Columbus. Honorary pallbearers are Patrick Foley, Kevin Fort, John Barboza and Michael Keiser.

The family requests that memorial donations be made to St. Catherine Catholic Church or the Pregnancy Center of Columbia.
