Joseph "Joe" Fagan

Joseph "Joe" Lyndal Fagan, Jr., grew up in Lewisburg, Marshall County. He was raised living in Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home where his father was a mortician. Joe graduated from Marshall County High School and then went to the Tech School in Hohenwald. He left Marshall County and followed his brother to Gallatin, TN, "God's Country" as he always called it.

Joe joined the Gallatin Police Department in 1974 as a dispatcher and then became a patrol officer with the department. In 1977, he joined the Columbia Police Department and became a K-9 officer. In 1980, he married Donna Baggett and they were married for 31 wonderful years. They met on the police force in 1979. Joe and Donna enjoyed NASCAR and traveled throughout the country to races. Joe enjoyed the computer and had met many on-line friends through his many hours playing games.

Joe was born on January 7, 1954 in Marshall County to the late Joseph Lyndal Fagan, Sr., and Nell Young Fagan. He was a member of West End Baptist Church in Columbia.

In addition to Donna, Joe is survived by the loves of their lives, their beloved pets, a deaf Dalmatian, Cheyenne, a Chow mix, Abby and Dalmatian, Hannah Bell; one brother, Retired THP Col. Mark Rhoda Fagan of Gallatin; one niece, Julie Thornhill of Hendersonville and two great-nephews, Daemon and Isaac Thornhill of Hendersonville along with many extended family members.

Joe passed away on his and Donna's 31st wedding anniversary, Tuesday, May 3, 2011 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services for Joe will be conducted Friday at 6:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Terry Peery and Barry Crotzer officiating with funeral honors provided by the Columbia Police Department Honor Guard.

The family will visit with friends on Thursday from 3:00 – 8:00 P.M. and on Friday from 4:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home.

Honorary pallbearers will be present and former members of the Columbia Police Department, Maury Co. Sheriff Enoch George and members of the Maury County Sheriff's Department.
