John "Sonny" H. Luttrell Sr.

Mr. John H. “Sonny” Luttrell, Sr., age 72, passed away on Monday, September 16, 2013, at NHC of Lewisburg.

Mr. Luttrell was born on April 27, 1941 in Maury County, Tennessee to the late Charles Edward Luttrell, Sr. and the late Ruth Davis Luttrell. He was married to the former Charlene Hanvy and they had one son together, Johnny Luttrell, Jr.

Sonny was self-employed as the part-owner and operator of the East Commerce 76 Service Station in Lewisburg, Tennessee. Also, he retired as the pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Shelbyville, Tennessee.

Mr. Luttrell is survived by his son: Johnny (Debby) Luttrell, Jr.; grandchildren: Amanda (Matt) Pitts and Kristin (R. J.) Tosh; great-grandchildren: Rett Tosh, Ziva Tosh, Kaden Allen and Adysen Pitts; sisters: Dorothy (Alton) Luttrell Holt Keith, Thelma Johnson, Barbara (Milton) Hicks, Debbie (Danny Ray) Jones, Elaine (Richard) Culberson, Linda (Harold) Gilliam and Brenda (Gene) Farrar; sisters-in-law: Sharon Luttrell, Darlene Luttrell and Brenda Luttrell.

In addition to his parents, Sonny is preceded in death by his two infant daughters: Kathy Ann and Penny Carol Luttrell; his sister: Betty Ruth Wiley; brothers: Charles Luttrell, Jr., Jerry Luttrell, Sr. and David Luttrell; and brothers-in-law: Leonard Johnson and Richard Wiley.

Funeral services for Mr. Luttrell will be held on Wednesday, September 18 at 10:00 a.m. in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with burial to follow at McCains Cemetery. Rev. Milton Hicks will officiate the service. The family will visit with friends on Tuesday, September 17 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Tim Holt, Will Luttrell, Chris Luttrell, Dewayne Hicks, Tony Hicks and Randy Hicks will serve as pallbearers.
