John Elam "Slim" Howell

Mr. John Elam "Slim" Howell, 90, a resident of Howell Road in Mt. Pleasant, passed away Friday, April 18, at Maury regional Hospital.
Funeral services for Mr. Howell will be conducted 4:30 PM Sunday, April 20 at the Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. William Owens officiating. Burial will follow in the Arlington Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 5:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.
The Maury County native was the son of the late Eleck and Martha Norman Howell and husband of the late Mary Lucille Graham Howell. Mr. Howell was a farmer and a truck driver and a member of Mt. Pleasant Freewill Baptist Church.
He is survived by his sons: Charles E. "Snookie" Howell, John Paulette Howell and Sidney Linda Howell, all of Mt. Pleasant; daughters: Frances Arlind Blackwood of Summertown, Fay Jimmy Oakley of Decatur, AL and Calamity "Tam" Ray Bivens of Pulaski; 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren; special friends: Charles and Sara Dale of Mt. Pleasant. He was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.
Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be great grandsons.
