Mr. John Winfield Watts was born in Clanton, AL to the late Winfield F. Watts and Lula Mae Mims Watts. He was the husband of Billie Hill Watts of Columbia.

John was a veteran, serving with the United States Army 3rd Armored Division, Ft. Knox, KY and Bayruth, Germany from January 1946 until January 1949 having received the Army Occupation Medal and World War II Victory Medal. He attended the University of Alabama and received a Business Degree from the University of West Alabama. John was retired from General Electric Company.

Survivors in addition to his wife, Billie, include his children: Lea Ann Robert Van Cleave of Nashville and John Barry Laura Watts of Columbia; grandchildren: Sarah Elizabeth Watts, Samuel Taylor Watts, James Winfield Van Cleave and Rebekah LeaAnn Watts; one brother, David Thomas Diane Watts of Tuscaloosa, AL; sisters-in-law, Eloise Hill Duke of Birmingham, Dorothy Dean Hill of Talladega, AL and Barbara J. Mrozinski of Phillipsburg, NJ; brother-in-law, K. Arnold Jane Hill of Birmingham along with 15 nieces and nephews.

Mr. Watts passed away on Tuesday, July 19, at Maury Regional Medical Center surrounded by his devoted family.

A memorial service for Mr. Watts will be conducted Saturday at 1:00 P.M. at Pleasant Heights Baptist Church with Rev. Bob Vassar officiating. The family will visit with friends at the church on Saturday after 11:30 A.M.

The family asks that no flowers be sent, rather donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, KS 66675 or the charitable organization of your choice.

A special thanks is offered by the family to Dr. Gibran Naddy and his nursing staff, Middle Tennessee Home Health Agency, the nursing and tech staff of Maury Regional Medical Center and Sami Naddy for their special care of Mr. Watts.
