Mr. John Wallace Beard, 75, Security Guard at Wal -Mart and a resident of South High Street in Columbia, died Saturday, February 7, 2004, at Maury Regional Hospital.
Funeral services for Mr. Beard will be conducted Tuesday February 10, 2004 at 11:00 a. m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Reverend Bob Adair, Judge Jimmy Matthews, and Donald Paul officiating. Burial will be in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends Sunday and Monday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Maury County native was the son of the late Barney and Ada F. Brady Beard. He was a former employee of the Maury County Highway Department. He was a Constable of 2nd District for 28 years and a member of the Junior Order of Police. He attended the First Church of the Nazarene.
He is survived by his three daughters, Maxine Donald Grooms, Patricia Bryant and Reba Ray Kuykendall all of Columbia, TN; grandchildren, Thomas Harrison Bryant, Cristy Bryant, Beth Kuykendall, Steven Kuykendall all of Columbia, TN; a great-grandson Logan Bryant of Columbia, TN; a special friend, Sylvia Elaine Pope of Columbia, TN; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Ronald ?Pop? Beard, Clyde Beard, and James Beard.
Pallbearers will be Jerry Wiley, Ray Kuykendall, Steven Kuykendall, Caleb Haynes, Glenn Rose, and Donald Grooms.
Honorary pallbearers will be management and employees of Wal-Mart, Donald Paul, Truman Ragsdale, Jim Bailey, Lee Bailey, Frank Walker, Judge Jimmy Matthews, Bobby Chance, members of the Maury County Sheriffs Department, and all his fellow Maury County Constables.
