John Marshall Myatt

January 9, 1939 — February 13, 2013

Mr. John Marshall Myatt, age 74 of Columbia died Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at Life Care of Columbia. Services will be Saturday 2:00 p.m. at Highland Park Baptist Church, officiated by Bro. Bob Adair and Pastor Mark Proctor. Visitation will be Friday, February 15th, from 6:00p.m. -8:00p.m and Saturday from 12:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Highland Park Baptist Church. Burial will be at Polk Memorial Gardens.
He was the son of late Kendrick J. and Pearl Goad Myatt. He was also preceded in death by sisters: Lucille McKee, Helen Morris, brothers, also preceded him in death: Billy Myatt, and K.J. Myatt, Jr.
He was in the United States Air Force from 1957 until 1961. After this he attended and graduated from Columbia Business College. He worked for Heil Quaker for 11 years and then worked for Bell South for 28 ½ years retiring March of 2002.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Carolyn Lyles Myatt, Sister Josephine Waggoner, Brother Edward (Jean) Lyles. Nieces and Nephews: Dale (Charlyn) Myatt, Jacksonville, Florida, Jason (Rachel) Lyles, Columbia, TN, Jennifer G. (Jimi) Williams. Great Nieces and Nephews: Jaycie Lyles, Rhett Lyles Elijah Williams, Christian Williams, Callie Myatt. He is also survived by his beloved cat, Muffin.
Active pallbearers will be: Bill E. Stewart, Anthony Sims, Charles Dillehay, Dan Baena, Jimi Williams, Jimmy Williams. Honorary pallbearers will be: Edward Lyles, Jason Lyles, and Jimmy Fogg.
