Mt. Pleasant

John "Jeffrey" Knox, the self-described "Mayor of Mount Pleasant," passed away on June 12, 2023, leaving behind a community forever touched by his presence. Born in Columbia, Tennessee, on September 23, 1962, Jeffrey was the beloved son of Tillman Knox and Bessie Hall.

Jeffrey was a massive pillar in the community, a larger-than-life figure who brought joy to everyone around him. With his infectious laughter and warm personality, he was the life of every party, instantly lighting up any room he entered. His love for travel took him to various corners of the world, always seeking new adventures and experiences.

Adopting the role as "top of the totem pole," from his father, Jeffrey had a unique way of commanding attention and leading with his magnetic charisma. He had an incredible sense of humor and was a renowned jokester, always ready to bring laughter and smiles to those around him.

In addition to his vibrant personality, Jeffrey was a devoted family man. He cherished his role as a husband, father, and pops, bringing boundless love and joy to his loved ones. His annual guys' trips with his son-in-laws to Tunica, where they indulged in gambling and camaraderie, were cherished moments of bonding and relaxation.

No matter how busy he was, Jeffrey made it a priority to be there for his family and friends. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and would drop anything to support those he cared about. Known as the king of shortcuts, he had a knack for finding efficient ways to navigate through life's challenges.

Jeffrey had a deep passion for music, particularly 70's classics and old-school country tunes. John Deere Green was his favorite color, reflecting his love for the outdoors and his roots as a cattle farmer. He followed in his father's footsteps as an exceptional golfer, even achieving a remarkable feat at the age of 12 when he and his brother hit back-to-back hole-in-ones.

Outside of sports, Jeffrey also shared his expertise by coaching his daughter's softball teams, fostering a love for the game in young hearts and leaving a lasting impact on their lives.

John "Jeffrey" Knox will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His larger-than-life personality, unwavering love, and unwavering dedication to family and community will forever be cherished and remembered. May his soul find eternal peace.

Jeffrey is survived by his loving wife, Christye, who stood by his side through thick and thin. He leaves behind his adoring daughters, Heather (Kelsey) Voss, Kayla (Toby) Lane, and Hillary (Austin) Bratton, who will forever cherish the memories they created together.

His grandchildren, Tillman Binkley, Sophie, Parker and Lola Voss, Tucker Bratton, Axel Bratton, Saylor Bratton, and Greyson Lane, brought immense joy to his life. Jeffery was a doting Pops, relishing every moment spent with them.

He is also survived by his siblings, Tim and Alden Knox, who shared a special bond with him throughout their lives. His nephew, Jonathon Knox, and cousin, Linda Warren, held a special place in his heart. He is also survived by his beloved mother in law Gayle White.

Jeffrey was preceded in death by his parents, Tillman Knox and Bessie Hall, as well as his aunt Norma Martin and his aunt and uncle, George and Ruth Knox.
