John Ed Allen

March 10, 1925 — October 20, 2011

John Ed Allen was born March 10, 1925 in Hampshire, TN, to the late Willie Washington Allen and Lena Weaver Boshers. John retired after 46 years as a mechanic at Stauffer Chemical Company. John Ed was a Seaman 1st class on the USS Albert W. Grant Destroyer Escort during WWII. He enjoyed hunting, playing pool with his family, and loved to play riddles with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Locust Street Church of Christ. John Ed was a longtime resident of the Mount Joy Community in Mount Pleasant, but spent his last 18 years in Columbia.

Survivors include two sons John Dorothy Allen of Columbia, and Billy Ray Julie Ann Allen of Raleigh, North Carolina. His grandchildren, Donna Riley of Williamsport, TN, Sheri Rob Hill of Tamarac, FL, Elizabeth Dennis Hennessy of Hohenwald, TN, John Garlon Brenda Allen of Columbia, TN, Alisha Diane Allen, of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Stephanie Jeff Meier of Raleigh, North Carolina; 6 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. His only surviving sibling is Marguerite Allen Hardison

Mr. Allen passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2011, at Vanderbilt Medical Center.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, October 24, 2011, at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Eddie Rogers officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens.

The family will visit with friends on Sunday, October 23, 2011, from 5:00 - 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will Jim Linam, Lucas Linam, John Garlon Allen, Dennis Hennessy, Andrew Hennessy, and Matt Nelson.
