Mr. John E. Black, age 63, a resident of Big Swan Road in Hohenwald, passed away on Tuesday, December 2, at the Alvin C. York Medical Center in Murfreesboro.
A graveside inurnment will be conducted Monday at 2:00 P.M. at Polk Memorial Gardens with Bro. Kenneth Jenkins and Bro. Rick Points officiating. Military honors will be provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.
The family will visit with friends on Monday from 1:00 P.M. until service time at Polk Memorial Gardens.
Williams Funeral Home in Columbia is in charge of the arrangements.
The Athens, AL, native was born January 5, 1946. He was the son of the late Will Black and Myra Wales Black. John served in the U.S. Army during Vietnam. He was retired after many years of service with Lasko Metal Products. John had also worked as a security guard for Wal-Mart.
Survivors include his son: Steve Black of Columbia; daughters: Felicia Morris, Tasha Cash and Jacqueline Kincaid, all of Columbia; one brother: James "Jack" Carol Black of Columbia; one sister: Leslie Stockard of Columbia; grandchildren: Julie Black, Jenie Black, Hannah Cash, Star Liggons, Ethan Smith, Abby Smith and David Cole Kincaid, all of Columbia; nephews and nieces: Jimmy Dee Tennyson of Columbia, Bobby Beverly Tennyson of Culleoka, Barbara Donald Potts of Santa Fe, Sandra Alfred Ervin of Santa Fe, Janice Darrel Teeples of Columbia, Becky David Ring of Columbia, Elizabeth Taz Barnes of Mt. Pleasant, Ricky Laura Bishop of Pulaski, Susan Stockard of Columbia, Tammy Black, Jason Black and Phillip Black, all of Hohenwald and Jackie Jerry Plant of Mt. Pleasant.
