John Charles Ragsdale

April 19, 1951 — May 13, 2009

Mr. John Charles Ragsdale, age 58, a resident of Smith Hollow Road in Mt. Pleasant, passed away Wednesday, May 13, at Hidden Acres Nursing Home.

Funeral services for Mr. Ragsdale will be conducted Saturday, May 16 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in the Arlington Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday from 4:00 to 9:00 PM at the funeral home.

Born April 19, 1951 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Elton "Mac" Ragsdale and the late Uvela Sutton Ragsdale Maxwell. John worked in the sheet metal fabrication at Hussman Refrigeration in Montgomery, AL. He loved fishing and the Alabama Crimson Tide Football team. His greatest love was going to AL to spend time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his children: Pamela John Mallows of Deatsville, Al, John Charles Ragsdale, Jr. of Eclectic, AL, George Elton Ragsdale of Titus, AL and Timothy Ashly Ragsdale of Coosada, AL; grandchildren: Santana Cummins of Mt. Pleasant, Faith Green of Montgomery, AL and Caden Wayne Ragsdale of Coosada, AL; great grandchild: Kelsa Green of Montgomery, AL; brothers: Jr. Ragsdale of Mt. Pleasant and William Frances Ragsdale of Columbia; sisters: Judy Wyatt of Munford, TN, Minnie Ragsdale of Newport, TN, Margaret Norman and Barbara Holder, both of Mt. Pleasant. He was preceded in death by a sister: Ruby Ragsdale McGaw.

Pallbearers will be Billy Joe Norman, Timmy Holder, Guy Ragsdale, David Stanfill, Billy Stanfill, Michael Ragsdale, Elton Ragsdale III and Jeff Ragsdale. Honorary pallbearers will be David Steel and the staff and nurses of Hidden Acres.
