John Edward Campbell, age 80, passed away Sunday, May 3, 2020 at Magnolia Health and Rehab in Columbia, TN.
John was born August 29, 1939 in Talladega, AL to the late Charlie and Elizabeth Campbell. John quit school early in life so that he could work and help provide for his family. He has done several different things in life and he started with picking cotton as a boy. When John was 17 he was running moonshine; there was a point in time that he got caught, the judge asked him if "he had learned his lesson?" to which John quickly responded, yes, that he would take another route next time. John left running moonshine behind and worked many years with Walker Dye cast as well as working for himself cutting wood. His preferred work was buying, repairing, and selling lawn mowers. John was truly a kind man, he had love for anyone and everyone, and did his best to share joy. He was quite the jokester and entertainer, it wasn't uncommon for him to sing and dance, anything to bring a smile. He especially loved his family and that includes his K-9 companion Kenzie. John's light will be missed, and the world is a little dimmer for his absence. But, John would still want you to share a smile and laugh with someone.
John is survived by his children: Christy (Chad) Bailey, Ann (Keith) Henson, Eddie (Cheryl) Campbell, and Tim (Lequetta) Dunkle; 8 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; sister: Linda Shelton; and brothers: Jimmy Campbell and David Campbell.
John's family will visit with friends Wednesday, from 10 a.m. until 11:00 a.m at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, TN. A graveside service will be held at 11:30 a.m. at Haynes Cemetery in Culleoka.
