John "Marty" Bowling Jr.

John Martin “Marty” Bowling, Jr., age 48, resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, at his residence.

Marty was born December 9, 1968 in Bossier City, LA, the son of John Martin Bowling, Sr., and Ruby Delores Huckabay Bowling. Upon his graduation from High School, Marty joined the Army National Guard. He was currently working as a lumber inspector and timber grader.

Marty was a country boy at heart and would give you the shirt off of his back. He loved the Lord and thoroughly studied the Bible. He was an avid hunter and mostly enjoyed hunting raccoon and deer. His favorite place to be was in the woods.

Survivors include his parents, John M. and Ruby Delores H. Bowling, Sr., of Mt. Pleasant; children, Brittany Bowling Winstead, John Martin Bowling III and Christopher Bowling; one grandson, Blake Winstead and a grandson due in October, along with his brother, Jamie (Britney) Bowling of Columbia. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, L.E. and Lillian Huckabay of Tallulah, LA.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 10:30 A.M. at First Baptist Church in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Frank Webb officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.

The family will visit with friends on Saturday after 9:30 A.M. at the church.

Pallbearers will be Bubba Parker, Josh Tillman, Gilbert Marshall, Gregg Cooper, Keith Smith and Doug Marshall.
