John Lewis “Buck” Bondurant was born September 27, 1942, in Rockingham Co., NC, the son of the late Walter and Lillie Collins Bondurant. He was retired as a technician with Menasha in Mt. Pleasant. John had served his country in the United States Navy and was of the Baptist faith. On June 15, 1983, John was married to Rose Isabell Bondurant who resides in Mt. Pleasant.
Survivors in addition to Rose include his son, Billy Bondurant of Lawrenceburg; step-sons, Timothy Brown and Bradley Brown, both of Mt. Pleasant; 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren; sisters, Nancy Wright, Mary Frances (George) Starkey, Barbara (David) Snyder, Lois (Richard ) Bullins along with numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by a step-son, Mark Brown and siblings, Dennis Bondurant, Bob Bondurant, Margaret Hudy, James Bondurant, and Betty Bondurant.
John passed away on Wednesday, January 9, at his residence in Mt. Pleasant.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. William Owens and Mickey Brackin officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.
The family will visit with friends on Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Jeff West, Jerry Young, Terry Buie, Tim Duncan, Billy Starkey and Phillip Bolton.
