John A. Houston, age 55, a resident of Curtis Hollow Road in Antioch, passed away on Wednesday, March 25, at Southern Hills Hospital in Nashville.
Graveside services for Mr. Houston will be conducted Monday at 2:00 P.M. at Pinecrest Memorial Gardens with Rick Points officiating.
Williams Funeral Home in Columbia is in charge of the arrangements.
Born on October 1, 1953 in Hammond, La., John was the son of the late Sam W. and Lady Gay Breeding Houston. During his early life he worked as a disc jockey and in data marketing in the Nashville area. John was very musically gifted and loved many kinds of music. He had written numerous songs. During the time he lived at Hickory Hollow Towers, the ladies there loved him and always looked forward to his hugs. John loved to baby-sit for his nieces and nephews and he loved Guy and Euna's dogs Tasha and Scottie. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and attended Belmont Church in Nashville.
Survivors include his brothers: Guy Euna Houston of Spring Hill and Sam Clara W. Houston, Sr., of Hammond, La., one sister: Gay Jim Walters of Dallas, Tex.; nieces and nephews: Ruth Ann Barrett of Calif., Julia Houston of New Orleans, La., Cliff Houston of Spring Hill, Eric Houston of Spring Hill, and Rebecca Houston of Murfreesboro; great-nieces: Jenna and Isabell Barrett of Calif., and Brittany, Cyndi, Emily and Addie Houston of Spring Hill.
