Joe Horace Massey

Joe Horace Massey, age 84, longtime resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Sunday February 15, 2015 at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Joe was born on April 27, 1930 in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee to the late Horace Raymond Massey and Nell Alberta High Massey. Joe was a graduate of Haylong High School. During his younger years, he enjoyed boating and water skiing. Joe proudly served his country from 1950-1954 during the Korean War. Joe was a farmer for many years. After retiring from farming, he went on to sell cars at several dealerships in Columbia. Joe loved NASCAR racing and tractor pulls. He was a very active grandfather. Joe was a member of First Baptist Church Mt. Pleasant.
A private family memorial service to celebrate Joe’s life will be held in the Chapel of Williams Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee on Sunday, February 22, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Terry Ailor officiating. The family will visit with friends from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. following the service.
Joe is survived by his wife of many years Barbara Allen Massey of Mt. Pleasant; daughters Jeri Massey (Bob) Lamb of Murfreesboro and Jennifer Michelle Massey of Mt. Pleasant; son Phillip Sidney (Kathy) Massey of Columbia; granddaughters Ashely Meade, Megan Jones, Darla Massey, Sabrina Turner, and Jasmine Turner; grandsons Eric Massey, Matthew Massey, and Isiah Crowe; great-grandsons Logan Jones and Harrison Massey; great-granddaughters Macie Jones, Sophie Ward, and Scarlett Massey; and sisters Melba Jacobs and Jeannie Massey Tice.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages friends to make memorial contributions payable to Tennessee Kidney Foundation, 95 White Bridge Road, Ste. 300, Nashville, Tennessee 37205.
