Joe Lee Renfro

September 15, 1942 — March 8, 2009

Joe Lee Renfro, age 66, a resident of the Sandy Hook Community, went to be with our Savior on Sunday evening, March 8, surrounded with love from his family and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Renfro will be conducted Friday at 3:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Rev. Eugene Barrett officiating. Burial will follow in Arlington Cemetery.

The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 5:00 – 9:00 P.M. and on Thursday from 2:00 – 9:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Born at home on September 15, 1942, to O.L. "Winky" Renfro and Janette Craig Renfro in Mt. Pleasant where he grew up and lived the rest of his life. He graduated from Hay Long High in 1964. After high school he served in the National Guard in the transportation unit. Joe spent the rest of his working career as a truck driver. He was a lover of all sports, especially baseball. He was of the Methodist faith.

He leaves behind his family that will always cherish him; his best friend and wife of over 40 years, Paula Vollmer Renfro; two loving daughters, Cheryl Renfro and Christen Renfro Isabell, both of Mt. Pleasant; three precious grandchildren, Brennan Berry, Brayden Isabell and Brooklyne Staggs all of Mt.Pleasant; devoted brother, Steve Kay Renfro of Mt.Pleasant, two devoted sisters, Nell Gilbert Clark and Doris Mike Chapman, both of Summertown, nieces, Jana Chris Cummins of Summertown, Myleah Kris Luffman of Lawrenceburg, Summer Chapman of Summertown; nephews, Robb Marissa Clark of Columbia, Scott Amy Renfro of Mt. Pleasant; "adopted son", Anthony Isabell of Mt.Pleasant; special uncle, Gene Carolyn Craig; special cousin, Nathan Flora McKennon and a host of other loving relatives. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Raymond "Quink" Kelley, Tommy Workman, Jerry Attkisson, Charles Gandy, Steve Patterson, Norman Wayne Davis, Michael Davis, Scotty Kennedy and Willie Paul Sims. Honorary pallbearers will be employees of By Pass Market, friends and neighbors of the Sandy Hook Community, Allen Arnold and Darrin Kennedy.

The family sends special thanks to Dr. Hollis O'Neal, Dr. Dan Skarzynski, Dr. Mark Chaney, Dr. Thomas Quinn, wife's coworkers on 2nd West/Stepdown at Maury Regional, Respiratory Therapy Dept, ICU nurses; Amy Phelps, Millie Lopp, Gary Anderson, Charity Sharpe; special friends; Josh and Ashley Simpson, Teana Falconbury and Lisa Kelley.

The family would like to extend their eternal gratefulness and many thanks to all of the people that visited and called to show their concern and sympathy. It goes without saying that Joe never met a stranger. He touched many lives and was cared for and loved by an over abundance of wonderful people.
