Joe Hopkins, Jr.

Joe was born on February 22, 1945 in Pikeville, Kentucky. He was the son of the late Joe Hopkins, Sr. and Mertie Adkins Hopkins from Monroe, Michigan. Joe was the husband of Betty Brown Hopkins of Columbia. They were married for 32 years. He was an army veteran having served in the Vietnam War. He was a retired Op tech with the GM Corporation. Joe loved reading, bowling, baseball and watching the University of Kentucky basketball games. He loved being a Papaw.
In addition to his mother and wife, he is survived by four daughters, Belinda Jo Todd Prater of Pikeville, KY, Regina Ellis Copley, Jennifer Joe Hardy and Amanda Paul Cowdrey all of Columbia; four sons, James Dean Hopkins and Kelvin Dwayne Hopkins both of Pikeville, KY, Anthony Sheila Crabtree and Erik Hopkins both of Columbia; two sisters, Kay Bennie Kinney of Carlton, Michigan and Judy Faye Dan Hall of Summerset, KY; a brother, Kenneth Pam Hopkins of Columbia; 17 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Joe Hopkins was 65 years old and a resident of Highview Dr. in Columbia. He passed away on Thursday, January 13, 2011 at his residence following an extended illness.
Funeral services for Joe will be conducted at 3 PM on Sunday, January 16, 2011 in the chapel of the Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rick Points officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors will be provided by the TN National Guard.
The Hopkins Family will receive friends from 4 PM until 8 PM on Saturday at the funeral home.
