Joan Kersey Kittrell, age 66, passed away surrounded by family Thursday, January 28, 2021, at her home in Mount Pleasant, Tennessee. Joan was born July 19, 1954, in Columbia, Tennessee to the late Clayburn Kersey and Betty Cummins Kersey.
Right after she graduated she began working at Tennessee Farm Bureau before moving over to Maury Regional Hospital in the Medical Records Department. Joan then alongside her husband opened a business together Kittrells Kars. She often ran the business on her own. They then ventured further and started Mt. Pleasant Mini Storage and Summertown Mini Storage. During this time, she also got her Realtors License. In 2000 they purchased Thunder Hill Raceway track, and if not busy enough, she took on running the concession stand at the track. She loved working there and used the opportunity to explore unique recipes such as fried ice cream. During that year, she started having health problems, which ended years later with her receiving a heart and kidney transplant. She loved going and spending time with her friends at "The Table of Knowledge" at the Small-Town Diner in Mount Pleasant. However, above all else, Joan loved her family. She raised her children in a loving Christian home. She was a current member of Spencer Hill Church of Christ however she spent many years at Main Street Church of Christ along with her family. Joan has made herself a staple in the Mount Pleasant and Columbia communities, her larger than life personality and kindness will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Joan is survived by: her daughter: Angela (Rob) Jackson; son: Ben (Tracy) Kittrell; grandchildren: Carley Fritts, Colbey Fritts, Creslee Dye, Audrey Kittrell, Bentley Kittrell, Mitch Jackson, and Myles Jackson; and husband of 45 years James Kittrell; brothers: Randy (Sherri) Kersey, David Kersey; sister: Jennifer (Andy) Sensat and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents; paternal grandparents: Flenoy and Rachel Kersey; maternal grandparents: Robert and Naomi Cummins; sisters in law: Tina Kersey and Tammy Kersey.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Saturday, January 30, 2021, at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant. A celebration of Joan's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 31, 2021, at Williams Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant with Andy Pogue, Randy Kersey, and David Kersey officiating. Burial will follow at Spencer Hill Cemetery in Mount Pleasant.
Pallbearers will be: Lee Sensat, Andy Sensat, Randy Kersey, David Kersey, Danny Cummins, Bob Cummins, Caleb Kersey, and James Kittrell.
