Jimmy “Pop” English McKennon, age 80, faced the end on his feet with the bit in his teeth, October 18, 2019 at his home surrounded by his family.
Jimmy, was born December 29, 1938 in Maury county to the late Mack McKennon and the Late Azzie Myrtle Kennedy, and the world was never the same. Jimmy grew up in the Hampshire/Mt. Pleasant communities. He attended the Sandy Hook Institute of Technology. He was an entrepreneur owning several businesses throughout his life. He was a man true and honest like no other. He was a Master Gardener, an Auctioneer that never auctioned, avid card shark, and a member of the notorious TWRA’s Most Wanted. The world will miss The Man, The Myth, The Legend, that was Pop.
Jimmy is survived by his daughter: Crystal Jo “Jodi” McKennon Keiser; grandchildren: Kate (Kevin) Boshers and Josh (Nannalee) Haywood; great grandchildren: Sydney Pineda, Alex Pineda, Aiden Haywood, Sophie Ray Haywood, Kyle Boshers, and Chase Boshers: and 1 great great grandchild: Ava Matijasevic. Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife: Sara Thomas “Tom” Brooks McKennon; and siblings: Bobby Gene McKennon and Carmack Cothran.
The family will gather to swap Pop and Jimmy stories Tuesday, October 22, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. A graveside service will be held immediately following the visitation at Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum in Columbia, Tennessee. The family encourages all to come to Pop’s “Meet and Greet” and wants you to know there is no dress code.
