Jimmy Dale “Jay” Staggs, age 40, resident of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, at Vanderbilt Medical Center, surrounded by his family and friends.
Jay was born August 30, 1975, in Columbia, to Jimmy “Tippy” Staggs and Brenda Davis Foster. On June 3, 2014, he married Miranda “Mindy” McKennon, the love of his life. Jay loved video games and spending time with his family, especially his two children, Cameron, 3 and Jordan, 16. He was an avid Bengals and Peyton Manning fan. Jay was a very talented artist and singer and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Mike Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Survivors include his wife Mindy Staggs of Mt. Pleasant, and sons, Cameron and Jordan Staggs; father, Jimmy “Tippy” Staggs of Columbia; mother, Brenda Foster of Columbia; three sisters, Connie Roland, Wendy Roland and Tracey Johnson, all of Columbia and one brother, Chris (Brandi) Roland of Columbia, along with numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his two grandmothers, Ellen Staggs and Elizabeth Jane Davis.
Pallbearers will be Scott Hall, Scooter McKennon, Scotty Morton, Eric Barboza, Robert Davis, Jr., Taylor DeRidder, Joshua Roland and Curtis Davis. Honorary pallbearer will be his brother and best friend, Chris Roland.
