Jimmy Edward Brady

September 25, 1945 — December 8, 2018

Jimmy Edward Brady, age 73, of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away on Saturday, December 08, 2018 at NHC Maury Regional Transitional Care Center.

Jimmy was born on September 25, 1945, in Santa Fe, Tennessee to the late Malcolm and Marjorie Hay Brady. He was the loving and dedicated husband of Sheree Jeanene Clanton Brady, whom he wed in July of 1979. Through their almost forty years of marriage, they enjoyed being together at home in Columbia, and their river home they owned until nine years ago. Jimmy was a retired Lieutenant Detective of the Maury County Sheriff’s Department, leaving the force in September 2010. He had also been a member of the SWAT team at the Sheriff’s Department.

In addition to his work, Jimmy enjoyed many hobbies during his lifetime. He was very, very active, even as he got older. Loving bicycling, on his 50th birthday, he rode his bike all the way to Tom’s Creek in Linden, Tennessee from his home in Columbia. He loved anything out-doors, including knee-boarding, fishing, shooting, kayaking and many others. Camping with his children every weekend was something he enjoyed very much. He also loved his toys; from sports cars to jeeps, Mazda Miatas, to motorcycles, dirt bikes, he constantly kept on the move. He loved to race, enjoyed working on the cars and bike, and even owned Brady’s Cycle Hut in the 1970’s. He loved guns, whether it was collecting them, or shooting them. With all this activity, he was a quiet man; but when he spoke, those who knew him, knew it was something important and should be listened to.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife: Sheree Brady, of Columbia; children: LeeAnn (Cameron) Cothron of Lynnville, Keith Brady of Columbia, and Honey (Robbie) Williams of Summertown; grandchildren: Cydnee Cothron, Brady Cothron, Kylee Thompson, Hanna Kennedy, Briana Thompson, Nic Thompson and Jack Williams; great-granddaughter: Leah DeLaRosa; siblings: Jerry (Dianne) Brady and Marvin (Kelly) Brady; several aunts, uncles and cousins; and his beloved dog: Mimi Brady. He was preceded in death by his parents: Malcolm Brady and Marjorie Hay Brady.
