Mrs. Jewell Frances Guthrie Cates, 65, a resident of Potter Drive, died Thursday, August 21, 2003 at Maury Regional Hospital.

Funeral services for Mrs. Cates will be conducted Sunday August 24, 2003 at 4:00 p.m. at the Williams Columbia Funeral Home with Reverend Danny McConnell and Reverend Jerry Golden officiating. The family will visit with friends Saturday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

The Lawrence county native was the daughter of the late Floyd Guthrie and Rachel Clayton Guthrie Moore. She was a homemaker and employee at Shoneys Restaurant. She was an avid dancer and Atlanta Braves fan. She was a member of Zion Free Will Baptist Church.

She is survived by four daughters, Debbie Perry Oliver of Columbia, Donna Darrin Terry of Culleoka, TN, Diane Tim Brown of Mt. Pleasant, TN. And Dawne Ray Jett of Lynnville; Grandchildren, Darrell Cates, Jason Oliver, Shane Chatman, Cody Terry, Austin Brown, Corey Terry, Dustin Jett, Brandon Jett, Chelsey Hickman and Matthew Brown; two great-grandchildren, Kayla and Alexis Black; two sisters Margaret Womble of Gum Springs Community, Kathryn Comer of Liberty Grove; a brother Ernie Moore of Mt. Pleasant, TN and a dear friend Verta Love; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Guthrie. She was formerly married to William Glen Cates of Lynnville.

Pallbearers will be Jason Oliver, Shane Chatman, Cody Terry, Corey Terry, Dustin Jett, Shawn Moore, Danny Hatcher and Brandon Jett.
