Jewel Elaine Fly (Cooper), age 93, resident of Columbia, peacefully went to be with the Lord on January 8, 2020.
Services will be Saturday, January 11th at Williams Funeral Home, Columbia, at 2:00PM, with Bob Vassar officiating. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. Family will visit with friends on Friday, January 10th from 4:00-8:00PM.
Elaine was born on September 10, 1926 in Lawrence County to the late James and Mary Barton. She was one of eleven children. She loved her simple life after retiring from nursing. Her hobbies included gardening, raising flowers, cooking, and quilting. She loved all animals, especially the birds she would feed outside every day. Elaine bravely fought breast cancer and won. She never knew a stranger and loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her sons, David (Darlene) Cooper and Jerry Cooper; grandchildren, Amanda (Dale) Inman and Tyler (Anna) Cooper; great grandson, Cooper Inman; sisters, Violet Boswell and Goldie Farrelly; and stepson, Earl Cooper, Jr.
Elaine was preceded in death by her first husband, Barney E. Cooper, and second husband, John H. Fly. Also, her brothers Verl, Frankie, Clifford, and Howard Barton; sisters, Dezzie Pilkinton, Dorothy Edwards, Nellie Stephens and Waymond Bradley.
Pallbearers will be Tyler Cooper, Dale Inman, Larry White, Ricky Bradley, Earl Cooper Jr. and Ricky Bishop.
