Jessie Coleman Alderson

Mrs. Jessie Coleman Alderson, age 88, a long time resident of Grandview Drive in Columbia, passed away on Sunday evening, June 19, at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services for Mrs. Alderson will be conducted Thursday at 10:30 A.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Gene Shelton and Rev. Steve Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens.

The family will visit with friends on Wednesday from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Alderson was born August 1, 1922 in Williamson County. She was the daughter of the late Robert Franklin Coleman and Mary Jane "Jenny" Johnson Coleman. She was the wife of the late Thomas Roy 'Tite" Alderson. Jessie retired as a chemical analyst after 42 years of service with Monsanto Chemical Company. She was the only surviving charter member of First Church of the Nazarene, having joined the church when it was established in 1932.

Survivors include one sister, Lois Lane of Transfer, Penn. and a special great nephew, Adam Hale of Greenville, Penn., along with numerous other nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Jessie was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Ruth Green, Kathleen Johnson, Robert Coleman, Weaver Coleman and Mary Coleman and a special niece, Allison Hale.

Pallbearers will be Adam Robertson, Wesley Robertson, Mark Mashburn, Phillip Jennings, Wayne Harris and Chester Hutchison. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the First Church of the Nazarene.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Dr. Kanth, Dr. Weisman and the staff of NHC/Columbia.
