Jessie C. Grooms, age 78 a resident of Columbia passed away Saturday at Maury Regional Hospital.
Jessie was born January 12, 1934 in Maury County to Roy Dugger and Audrey Matthews. Jessie loved to work in the garden, often canning Kraut and tomatoes. Jessie was an active member of Halls Chapel Church of Christ.
Ms. Grooms is survived by her husband Harold Grooms, Four Daughters: Vicky Bowie Mammy, Linda Tom Meyer, Sally Chuck Parfrey, Luther Sue Barnett all of Mt. Pleasant; Four Grandsons: Terry Green of Columbia, Bubba Lavada Green of Lynnville, Dustin Bradford of Columbia and Christopher Prince of Mt. Pleasant; Three Granddaughters: Stephanie Vandygriff of Lynnville, Shana Bratten of Columbia, Dana Crumley of Columbia; Ten Great-Grandsons: Colton and Triston Green of Columbia, Hunter and Hayden Green of Lynnville, Austin and Cameron Bratten of Columbia, Landyn Boshers of Mt. Pleasant, Nick Vandygriff of Mt. Pleasant, Ryan Prince of Mt. Pleasant, Austin Gibson of Mt. Pleasant; Four Great-Granddaughters: Hannah Green of Lynnville, Breanna Vandygriff of Mt. Pleasant, Aliza Benderman of Columbia, Alazae Jackson of Columbia; Three Sisters: Carolyn Eastep, Catherine Pruitt and Betty Eastep. Jessie was preceded in death by one grandson Michael King; Three Sisters Birdie Mae Clark, Marie Calvert and Dorothy Henson; Two Brothers: GB Dugger and Spud Dugger.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy "Boo" Henson, Danny Rabi Dugger, Wayne Dugger, Ronnie Dugger, Randell Pruitt, Berry Eastep.
Services for Jessie will be 2 pm Wednesday September 5, 2012 at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. The family will visit with friends Tuesday September 4th from 3 to 9 pm in the Williams Funeral Home Mt. Pleasant Chapel. Burial will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. Brother Tim Harris will be officiating the service.
The family would like to say a special thanks to Jessie's doctors especially Dr. Burshaw and the caring staff at Maury Regional Medical Center.
