Mrs. Jessie B. Taylor, age 77, a resident of Columbia, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Sterling House.
Born March 26, 1934 in Arkansas, daughter of the late Odist and Bettie Ward White and wife of the late James E. Taylor Jr., who preceded her in death in December 1999. She was a Licensed Practical Nurse with Hurley Hospital in Flint, MI before she and her husband retired to Columbia. She was very active in volunteering in her church and the community and she had a flare for gardening and interior designing. She enjoyed traveling and fishing with her husband and the "pizza and game nights" with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children: James Sandra Taylor Jr. of Santa Fe, Susan Doug Adkisson of Columbia and Betty Taylor of Williamsport; sister: Norma Hufstedler of Doniphan, MO; brother: Charles "Buddy" Doris White of Jonesboro, AR; five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Taylor will be conducted 11:00 AM Saturday, August 27 in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home of Columbia with David Morris officiating. Burial will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends from 10:00 AM to service time Saturday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be family and friends.
