Jesse Marlon Rummage

November 4, 1925 — July 2, 2009

Jesse Marlon Rummage, age 83, former resident of Hilltop Drive, passed away on July 2, 2009, at Rosewood Manor.

Funeral services for Mr. Rummage will be conducted Sunday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Wendell Robinson officiating. Entombment will be in the Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum with military honors provided by the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.

The family will visit with friends on Saturday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M.

Born on November 4, 1925 in Maury County, he was the son of the late Arris B. Rummage and Willie Davis Rummage. He was the husband of Jimmye Smartt Rummage who preceded him in death on May 1 of this year. Marlon was retired from the Columbia Fire Department. He served his country in the Army Air Corps during WW II. He was a member of the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19 and the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. Over the years, Marlon had enjoyed flying small aircraft.

Survivors include his sister: Clara Burgett of Columbia; one aunt, Frances Davis of Columbia; one niece and nephew: Joyce Edlin of Lynnville and Michael Burgett of Columbia; two great- nephews: Mason Edlin of Mt. Pleasant and Michael Burgett, Jr., of Ala. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a nephew: Dwight Burgett.

Pallbearers will be retired members of the Columbia Fire Department. Honorary pallbearers will be active members of the Columbia Fire Department.
