Jerry Wayne Young

Jerry Wayne Young, age 66 of Mt. Pleasant, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

Jerry was born into the world New Year’s Day in 1947 to the late Emmitt Young and late Francis Sisk Young in Columbia, Tennessee. He married the love of his life, Linda Isabell Young, February 16, 1982. Jerry was employed by Inner City Manufacturing in Lewisburg where he retired as an Operation Tech. He was an avid member of Freewill Baptist Church.

The family smiled while reflecting on the memories and impressions he made on everyone, stating that, “He was loved by everyone that met him.” Jerry enjoyed playing cards, gardening, and spending time with his brother Roger every Saturday. In his life, the most cherished time was spent with grandchildren, because it was those special children that brought the greatest joy into his heart.

The family would like to invite friends to visit Thursday, August 1, 2013 from 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, August 2, 2013 at 2:00 P.M. with Bro. William Owens and Bro. Charlie Boyd officiating also at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Burial will follow in the Garden of Prayer at Polk Memorial Gardens.

Jacob Buie, Terry Buie, Jeff West, Jared West, Mike Tidwell and Matt Mayes will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of Freewill Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife of 31 years, Linda, he is survived by his four daughters: Karen (Mike) Tidwell of Columbia, Paula (Jeff) West of Nashville, Tracy Bolton (Matt Mayes) of Mt. Pleasant, and Melinda (Terry) Buie of Summertown; two brothers: Roger (Jennis) Young and Randy Terri Young, both of Lewisburg; four sisters: Glenda, Joyce, Gail, and Joan; his beloved grandchildren: Candice, Jacob, Jared, Mariah, Maddox, and Randy; one great grandchild: Aubrey.
