Jerry Wayne Nichols

Mr. Jerry Wayne Nichols, 75, a resident of West 13th Street in Columbia, passed away Saturday, November 27 at Maury Regional Medical Center.

Born September 24, 1935 in Maury County, son of the late Jessie and Lillian Lindsey Nichols. After graduation from MTSU, he was drafted into the US Army and obtained the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. He taught school in Fayetteville for 2 years and retired from the State of Tennessee. He was a member of Craft Memorial Methodist Church.

Mr. Nichols is survived by his twin sister: Jane Ed Lawwell of Columbia; a brother: J.L. "Buddy" Nelda Nichols of Columbia; niece and nephew: Jane David Gagnon and Tommy Christy Lawwell, both of Murfreesboro; great niece and nephew: Linden Gagnon and Ryan Gagnon, both of Murfreesboro; special friend: Joyce Sanders of Nashville. He was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law: Dorothy and Ed Denton.

Funeral services for Mr. Nichols will be held 2:30 PM Thursday, December 2nd in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Rev. Donald Paul officiating. Entombment will follow in the Polk Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 4:30 to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be Tommy Lawwell, Donald Walters, John Church, Jack Hendley, Danny Azar and Bobby Sneed. Honorary pallbearers will be Douglas Wright, Jimmy Cook, Sue Clardy, Claire Riggins, Dorothy Partie, Gloria Burns, Glen and Linda Kay Sharpton, Austin and Charles Brewer, Bobby Harris, John Wagster, Mattie and John McEntyre and Mary James, who the family wishes to give special thanks for the care that she gave Jerry during the last several years of his life.
