Jerry E. Prince, age 69, long time Maury Co. Law Enforcement officer, passed away on Tuesday, June 20, at his residence.
Jerry was born on July 12, 1947 in Sewanee, TN, the son of Harold Prince and the late Mable Thomas Prince. On September 6, 1966, he married Mary Maxine Crabtree Prince. Jerry served in the United States Army during the Vietnam era. He received his Associates of Arts degree from Columbia State Community College and was a law enforcement officer with the Maury County Sheriff’s Department. He was a member of Gateway Church in Franklin.
Jerry was full of laughter and a great story teller. He had a way of telling them that would make them just hilarious. He was a loving man who loved his family first and especially his grandchildren. He prided himself in his work as a police officer. He enjoyed painting and writing, but most of all spending a day fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Mary M. Prince of Columbia; daughter, Nancy Marie (Derek) Prince-Kas of GA and son, Jeffrey E. (Khristina) Prince of Columbia; three sisters, Patricia Thomas of Murfreesboro, Debbie Thomas of Murfreesboro and Darlene Robinson (Gary); grandchildren, Jordan Rich Stroud (Bobby), Christian Kas, Jessica, Austin, Carley, Emily Prince, Kailey Kas, and Lindsay Rich Coble.
Pallbearers will be Austin Prince, Jeff Prince, Derek Kas, Bobby Stroud, Rob Perkins, Jason Bobb.
Funeral services for Jerry will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Columbia with Harry Stanbaugh officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by the United States Army.
The family will visit with friends on Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
