Jerry Wayne Kennedy, age 70, of Mt. Pleasant, passed away on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at his residence.
Jerry was born on March 5, 1945 to Ernest Kennedy and Artie Brown Kennedy in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee. He married Ellen McKennon Kennedy on June 22, 1963 and have been married for 52 great years. Mr. Kennedy worked at Columbia Machine Works and retired after 45 years.
Jerry was affectionately known to his children and grandchildren as “Andaddy”. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman. His love of hunting began as a child when he would venture off with his dog, Buster, and his mother would call for them all evening and he would eventually come from the woods. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with his family hunting on his property. His family would camp, grill, and they also built a cabin together. Along with hunting, Jerry also enjoyed fishing at his favorite spots which included Laurel Hill, Joe Wheeler, Pickwick, and VFW.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife: Ellen McKennon Kennedy of Mt. Pleasant; son: Kevin (Lori) Kennedy of Mt. Pleasant; daughter: Jerilen Gray of Mt. Pleasant; daughter-in-law: Susan (Ronnie) Kennedy of Mt. Pleasant; grandsons: Derek (Melissa) Gray of Mt. Pleasant, Rodney (Courtney) Kennedy of Mt. Pleasant, Dylan Kennedy of Mt. Pleasant, Josh (Leslee) Golden of Mt. Pleasant, and Blake Kennedy of Mt. Pleasant; granddaughters: Samantha Gray of Mt. Pleasant, Brittany Kennedy of Mt. Pleasant, and Paige Golden of Mt. Pleasant; great grandchildren: Trevor, Brianna Mckenzie, Tyler, Ryder, Frankie, Layla, Maci, and J.D.; someone like his child: Mike (Brenda) Gaddes. He was preceded in death by his son, Ronnie Wayne Kennedy and daughter, Janet Darlene Kennedy.
Funeral services for Mr. Kennedy will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery. The family will visit with friends on Friday, March 4, 2016 from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant.
Derek Gray, Rodney Kennedy, Dylan Kennedy, Bubba Gaddes, Randy Gaddes, and Mike Gaddes will serve as pallbearers. Blake Kennedy, Josh Golden, and the past and present workers of Columbia Machine Works will serve as honorary pallbearers.
