Jerry Bennett, age 74, of Columbia, passed away surrounded by loving family on Friday, April 22, 2016 at Williamson Medical Center in Franklin, Tennessee.

Jerry was born on October 11, 1941 in Mt. Pleasant, Tennessee to Jim S. Bennett and Louella Kennedy Bennett. He was a graduate of Haylong High School in Mt. Pleasant. On September 1, 1967 he married Sharon Lewellyn and they shared nearly forty-nine years together. He was a retiree of Union Carbide and also worked with his wife at Progressive Realty. He was a member of Jackson Heights Church of Christ. Jerry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, who had so much love and wisdom to share with the world. He loved his wife Sharon, going to church, watching Tennessee football, and spending time with his family. He always tried to make people smile, by cracking a joke or some other random act of of kindness. He especially enjoyed teaching he grandchildren new thinks and watching them do it successfully.

Jerry is survived by his wife: Sharon Bennett of Columbia, Tennessee; children: Jimmy (Suzanne) Bennett of Cumberland Furnace and LeAnn (Wade) Shelton of Mt. Pleasant; sister: Gail (Bill) Skillian; grandchildren: Tristan Bennett, Sarah Bennett, Benjamin Bennett, Kimberly Shelton, Timothy Shelton, Thomas Shelton, Katie Beth Shelton, Kathryn Shelton and Tyler Shelton; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Odie Bennett, James Bennett, Elease Burns, Edward Bennett, Dorothy Logue and Doris Faye Parr.

Funeral services for Mr. Bennett will be held on Monday, April 25, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Williams Funeral Home in Columbia, Tennessee with Andrew Roberts and Shawn Jeffries officiating. Interment will follow at Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Sunday, April 24, 2016 from 4:30 until 8:30 p.m. also at the funeral home.

Pallbearers are Tristan Bennett, Timothy Shelton, Thomas Shelton, Sonny Jones, Scott Bennett, and Michael Curtis.

Honorary Pallbearers are the Elders and Deacons of Jackson Heights Church of Christ, Dr. John Koetat, and Dr. Gilbran Naddy.
