Mr. Jerry Alton Morgan, 66, a resident of Canaan Road in Columbia, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 8, 2009, at Maury Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services for Mr. Morgan will be conducted Wednesday, February 11 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Bro. Randy McNeese officiating. Burial will follow in the Arlington Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday and Tuesday from 5:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
The Maury County native was the son of the late John and Katherine Henson Morgan and the husband of Sharon Kaye Hanvy Morgan. He was a retired crane operator for Industrial Contractors, member of the Union of Operating Engineers, an Eagle Scout and led Boy Scout Troop #104, active gardener and woodcraftsman. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children: Vincent Selena Morgan of Summertown, Monica Dawn Morgan and Jeremy Morgan, both of Mt. Pleasant; sisters: Kathy Joel Pewitt of Columbia and Sandra Williams of Mt. Pleasant; brother: Ronald Morgan of Columbia; grandchildren: Jon Michael Morgan and Jordan Morgan, both of Summertown; step-children: Melissa Shane Bush of Lincoln, NB, Stacey Cummins of Murfreesboro and Jason Cummins of Hampshire.
Pallbearers will be Joey Pewitt, Travis Davis, Chris Cummins, Pat Kelley, Kevin Davis, Jason Cummins and Joel Pewitt. Honorary pallbearers will be Mike Pruitt, David Clayton, Donald Hickman, Richard Cole, Chad Butler, Dennis Butler, Todd Williams, Justin Williams, Terry Hanvy, Frankie Hanvy, Harold Kelley, Raylon Williams and the Columbia Police Dept.
